Compete against other NHLFS fans using your lineup created in NHLFS app in a simulation game based on random real-life game performances by players in the 2024/25 NHL® Season.
What’s happening during the off-season?
We’ve been working on an exciting new feature Lineup Simulation. Fans faceoff head-2-head competing against each other with their top lineups. Fans will need to sign their players to game contracts to participate in the simulation game and strategize their lineups to maximize team boosts. P.S. we will give hints how to maximize team chemistry and boosts below.
There will be Head-2-Head matchups, Free Daily Challenges and Season modes to compete in.

How does the simulation work?
- All player performances will be based on a randomly selected historical matches the player played during the 2024/25 NHL® season.
- Maximizing your team boost will increase the chance that your player’s top games (FPts) will be selected as the random historical match gameplay
- TIP – matching your 2 D-men from the same team with the same team card in lineup (increase chemistry) will give your team a boost
- You will faceoff against other fan’s lineups created in our database for the simulation lineup competition
- To ensure fairness, our algorithm will source other fan’s lineup(s) that have similar projected Fpts based as your active simulation lineup.
- This range may increase or become more difficult as you climb ranks in the simulation lineup competition
(example your lineup is proj Fpts is 90fpts… we will source an opponent that is 20+/- your Fpts > Random opponent range from 70fpts to 110fpts) - Ranking is heavily weighted towards total coins earned during simulation gameplay.
Getting Started
- Fans create their lineups from within the main lobby of NHL Fantasy Stars
- The simulation game will pull in this lineup to play in simulation contests/game modes
- Fans require to edit their lineups inside the App. The simulation game will take the current lineup and submit that lineup into the contest.
- Users can exit the simulation game and go back to NHL Fantasy Stars make lineup edit change, and that new lineup will be taken into effect for the next simulation matchup
- Each player starts with default 7-game contract
- 1 contract = 1 game
- Once a player = 0 contracts, that player can be submitted into an eligible lineup
- All players in lineup must contain min. 1-game contract to play
- Lineups get a boost based on the chemistry of the players assembled (see team boosts below for more details)
Gameplay
- All game modes feature head-2-head simulation matchups between your lineup and a random opponent
- Each player in a lineup scores based on a random game played in the 2024/25 NHL season/playoffs and calculates the corresponding FPts they would have achieved during that game
- Whoever earns more total FPts wins from their accumulated lineups – wins the match
- All Training is taken into consideration
Team Boosts
Team Boosts increases chance of our algorithm pulling in an higher performance random FPts game from that player’s series of historical game data from NHL® 2024/25:

Team boost is displayed by progress bar on the home page where your lineup is brought in
What happens with all my players/teams?
- All players will be eligible to play in the simulation game
- All packs will be reloaded with players from all teams
- All previous training on items will remain and play a factor in your players scoring attributes in the simulation games (The more training applied > the more FPts they will earn in their simulation competition)
How do the game contracts work?
- All Players are eligible to participate in the simulated contest as long as they have a min. 1-game contract
- 1-game contract = 1-simulation contest played
- After each simulation contest, 1-game contract is subtracted from each player in your lineup
- If a single player does not have min. 1-game contract attached to them, your entire lineup will become ineligible. In order to make your lineup eligible, you either need to add a contract to the player, or edit your lineup to swap in another player with active game contract(s)
- All players start with a default 7-game contract. You might want to keep those extra players in your collection throughout the summer – they may come in handy should you need to swap them in your lineup 😉
- Any new player/team purchased from marketplace or acquired from a pack will come with default 7-player contracts
- You’ll be able to swap coins for contracts
- You can also stack multiple game contracts on a single player/team
- Available contracts in the simulation game vary from 1 to 25 games
- Completing the Free Daily Challenge will reward you with a free pack of contracts
What are the game modes available to play?
Head-2-Head
- Complete against randomly select fan > Win coins
Free Daily Challenge
- Win 7 games in a 24-hr period to claim free prize pack of coins and contracts. Any game played in Head2Head or Season or Daily challenge count towards your total wins that day

Season
- Complete against select random fans in a season long competition. Claim top spot to win coins!
- If a player from your team captures the season MVP (scores most FPts of the entire you league) you’ll win even more coins!
- Play a 10, 21 or 40 game season against 5, 7 or 10 other fans
