FAQ

What happens for the 2026/27 NHL Season?

New Season, New Cards!

If you are a returning user, your coin balance, XP level, and division will remain the same as last season.

As in previous seasons, cards are reset at the start of each new season. Your team collection will be blank for the new season, as you will need to collect 2026/27 cards for the 2026/27 NHL season.

Buy/Sell (Marketplace)

Why can’t I sell a player and/or team?

You cannot sell an item (player/team), if the item (player/team) is set in a lineup. Don’t forget to check all days if your items is in a lineup!

How come I can see (2) players under Buy with different avg Fpts?

It is possible to have similar players showing different avg Fpts throughout the game. All players avg Fpts by default are calculated based on standard scoring (See Scoring ). Players that have been trained and achieved Bronze (+1), Silver (+2) or Gold (+3) tiers on any attribute will affect the potential Fpts that player will receive. Trained players should be seen as higher value than non-trained players in the marketplace.

Who sets the prices for items on marketplace?

All items on the marketplace are listed by other fans on the NHL Fantasy Stars App. Peer-2-Peer marketplace. Each fan can determine their own value for each of the items they list. All items will need to at least hit the minimum price (coins) per each graded/rated item: All-Star (5000 coins), Gold (1200) coins, Silver (300 coins), Base (100 coins)

I just bought a player, I don’t see him in my collection or Lineup tray?

Sometimes a recently purchased player/team doesn’t show up instantly. You can solve this by pulling down on the screen on the “lineup” or “my collection” page to hard refresh the app. The item should appear after a hard refresh

Players

How can I see a players training tier?

Anywhere within the game, click on a player card to see it fullscreen > click the card to flip it over to reveal back of card > click the “training” tab . (See Training for more details)

How is Player/Team Rank Calculated?

NHLFS ranks all players/Teams per each position (C, LW, RW, D, Team). All items are ranked based off their standard avg Fpts across an entire season.

What does it mean if my player/team is “greyed” out?

This denotes the item is ineligible or inactive. Ineligible or inactive items cannot by added to a lineup, sold on marketplace or trained. You can “quicksell” inactive items by clicking on the item to bring it to fullscreen mode and selecting “quicksell”.

How come I have “maxed out” a training tier?

Depending on your XP level, you can only train up to specific tiers ; Bronze and/or Silver and/or Gold. Higher your XP level, the higher training tiers you can achieve. Level up today to unlock higher training tiers!

What is “Turbo Train” (All-Access Pass Exclusive)?

Lineups

How do I build my lineup in NHL Fantasy Stars?

Building your lineup in NHL Fantasy Stars is intuitive and strategic. From the Home screen, tap “Edit Lineup” to begin (middle bottom Purple Button “Edit Lineup”). You’ll then select players and a team from your collection, ensuring they have an active game scheduled during the contest period. The lineup includes:

  • 1 Team
  • 2 Defensemen
  • 1 Center
  • 1 Left Wing
  • 1 Right Wing
  • 1 Flex (any skater position)

You can drag and drop players/team into position, and only eligible players/teams will appear in the item tray. As you assemble your lineup, a projected points counter updates in real time based on past performances and any training boosts, helping you estimate your score (FPts) potential.

You can also use the Auto-Fill feature, which selects the highest-scoring eligible players automatically. Once you’re happy with the selections, click Save Lineup to enter the contest. You can modify your lineup at any time until the player’s or team’s game starts.

What is the minimum number of players required to enter a lineup?

In NHL Fantasy Stars, a full lineup consists of (7) total slots: (1) Team (2) D (1) LW (1) RW (1) C and (1) Flex (which can be filled by any skater position).

However, you’re not required to fill all (7) slots to enter a contest. You can submit a lineup with just one (1) player or team card, although your chances of scoring highly will be significantly reduced. Any position you leave empty will earn zero (0) FPts.

This flexible system allows you to participate even when you have a limited number of eligible items. Just remember: once a game involving a selected player or team begins, that slot locks, and you can no longer make changes to it.

Can I make changes to my lineup after submitting it?

Yes, NHL Fantasy Stars allows you to edit your lineup after saving it—right up until the scheduled game of any selected player or team begins. Once the real-life NHL game has started, that specific slot in your lineup becomes locked, and you can no longer change it.

You can freely swap eligible items in and out of unlocked slots by tapping Edit Lineup, making this feature great for last-minute adjustments or reacting to player injuries and lineup changes in the NHL.

It’s recommended to finalize your full lineup before puck drop on game day to maximize your potential for earning FPts. Keep an eye on NHL news and updates, and always double-check your lineup close to game time.

What happens if one of my active lineup players doesn’t play/dress for NHL Hockey Game?

If a player in your NHL Fantasy Stars lineup is scratched, injured, or otherwise doesn’t participate in a game, they simply won’t contribute any Fantasy Points (FPts) for that contest. Since FPts are based on real-life NHL performance, a player must participate in an NHL game to score.

How does the scoring system work in NHL Fantasy Stars?

NHL Fantasy Stars uses a unique scoring system that focuses on core stats from NHL games. Points (FPts) are earned by both skaters and teams

Player Scoring:

  • Goal (G): 7 FPts
  • Assist (A): 4 FPts
  • Shot (S): 1 FPts
  • Hit (H): 1 FPts
  • Blocked Shot (BLK): 1 FPts

Team Scoring:

  • Win (W): 3 FPts
  • Powerplay Goal (PPG): 1 FPts
  • Short-Handed Goal (SHG): 2 FPts
  • Shutout (SO): 5 FPts
  • Save (SV): 1 FPts
  • Goals Against (GA): -3 FPts

Players with training boosts gain additional points on top of these base stats. See Training for more details. The scoring updates in real time, typically with just a short delay (1-2mins) from the live NHL action.

Your total FPts across your lineup determines your contest rank and placement in your division for the week.

Coins

What is the monetary value of a coin?

Coins do not hold any monetary value inside or outside the NHLFS gaming experience. Coins in NHLFS serve as an in-game experience ONLY, enabling users to buy packs/players/teams in the marketplace and/or accelerate training sessions using “coins”.

All coins earned/rewarded (selling items, quicksell, daily login packs, leaderboard rank) hold no monetary value.

XP (Experience Points)

What are XP and how do I accumulate them

In NHL Fantasy Stars, the XP (experience points) system allows players to level up their accounts, unlocking new features and increasing player rewards. Almost all activity you perform in the app, you receive XP, such as: opening up daily packs, buying/selling players/teams on marketplace, submitting a lineup for the daily contest, etc.

Each XP level grants rewards such as new packs, boosted training capabilities, and increased chance of pulling higher rated items and increased coin amounts in daily free packs. The more you play and perform in contests, the faster you can level up your XP level.

Puck Race (Mini Game)

How to Play?

Race NHL Pucks down the track for a chance to win coins! Requires coins to play!

1) Select Game Mode -> Select amount of pucks you want to select to WIN the race. If any of your pucks win, you win the coin prize. The less pucks you choose, the higher the prize – the more puck you choose, the less you’d win – but you have a higher chance of winning a coin reward.

2) Select your Pucks -> Based on the game mode, you can choose between 1 and 15 pucks to finish first in race

3) Select your entry coin amount. You have a chance to win X times your entry fee based different game modes

If the green bar slides 100% complete – the game confirms your entry into Puck Race and your entry fee is immediately deducted from your account balance. This is a final transaction and noted in your “transactions” under the “Account” page

What If I exit the game midway through and don’t finish the race?
